How to use the epoxy resin moulds

Using an epoxy mould is simple and only requires a few supplies. 

Items you will need: 

  1. Epoxy resin
  2. Hardener
  3. Measuring cups
  4. Stirring sticks
  5. Moulds of your choice
  6. Gloves
  7. Optional: colourants, glitter, etc

Steps to follow:  

1. Measure Out Your Resin

Using the measuring cups, measure out an equal amount of epoxy resin and hardener. It's important to be precise with this step, as too much or too little of either component can result in a poor finished product. Once you've measured out the correct amounts, mix them together thoroughly with one of the stirring sticks. 

If you're using any colourants, glitter, or other additions, now is the time to mix them in. Stir until everything is evenly distributed throughout the resin mixture.

2. Pour the Resin into the Moulds

Once your resin is mixed and ready to go, it's time to pour it into the moulds. If you're using multiple moulds, make sure to evenly distribute the resin between them. Fill each mould until it is just shy of overflowing; you don't want any air bubbles trapped in your finished product. 

3. Let It Cure

Now that your moulds are filled with resin, it's time to let them cure. Depending on the type of resin you're using, this can take anywhere from 24 hours to a week. Once cured, your epoxy moulds will be hard and durable - ready to use however you see fit!

Frequently asked questions

How to clean a resin mould

Remove any excess resin from the surface of the mould by gently scraping it off with a plastic scraper or popsicle stick. For tougher residue, try rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover on a cotton ball to wipe down the mould's surface. Then, wash the mould with mild soap and warm water, using a soft brush if necessary to remove any remaining residue.

Are resin moulds reusable?

Allow the moulds to dry thoroughly before storing or using again. Cleaning your resin moulds regularly not only keeps them in good condition, but also helps prevent contamination and surface imperfections in your finished resin pieces.

How long do you have to leave resin in a mould?

The amount of time required to leave resin in a mould can vary depending on factors such as temperature and the type of resin used. In general, most resins require 24-48 hours to fully cure. It's important not to rush the curing process, as this can result in a weaker finished product and potential air bubbles or imperfections. 

However, it's always a good idea to check the instructions for your specific resin before pouring, as some may require longer curing times or special techniques. Ultimately, patience is key when it comes to resin casting - but the end result is worth the wait! Happy crafting!

Easy to use and great results! Have used Harry and Wilma products a few times now and very impressed. The Artist Resin is very easy to mix. Delivery is so quick and love the little gifts of mica powders and glitters, so much so, that I have bought those as well. Also bought the pigment pastes and love the vibrancy of the colours.
